Proof that Fiber Stuff still happens at Casa Cat. I've been carding the very first Romney fleece I ever bought to use as samples for my spindle class on Monday. The staple is really too long for a drum carder, but I prefer drum carded fleece for teaching. I'll also make up batts of a shorter, finer Romney fleece. I like to have a variety of fibers for each student to take home and work with between classes.
On the spinning wheel in the background is some very nice Corridale top from E. in WA. I plan on spinning up a firm 2-ply and then dyeing it for some fingerless mitts for M. I have no idea what colors I want to use, but I have the dye kit from Mother Mackenzie so I can mix up any colors I can dream up.
I recently bought some handmade soap. Go to Organic Ways Soap and get some! The lavender is the best I've tried yet - the scent is just the right amount, and smells heavenly! The shampoo bar is fab, too! Tell Sarah that I sent you...
We're off to South Beach for the weekend, which promises to be wet and chilly.
Have a great weekend!
